About
I'm Bjørn-Magne. I'm 26 years old, and I grew up on Stord, a small island on the west coast of Norway, for the first eighteen years of my life. After that I went to Bergen and trained as a cook, a proper apprenticeship, knives and all. I came back home for a year afterward, not entirely sure what was next, and then ended up moving to Lovund, a tiny island off the Helgeland coast, where I've now lived for the last four years. I worked at Nova Sea, the salmon farming company that's the reason most people who've heard of Lovund have heard of it, and these days I work at Monter, in building supplies.
Outside of work I spend my time working out, hiking whenever the weather in this part of Norway allows it, gaming, drawing, and teaching myself to program (the reason this site exists). I'm not a professional developer. Everything here is something I picked up in the evenings, including the site itself: it's self-hosted, on a box I set up myself, running Go services and a SvelteKit frontend behind Postgres and Caddy. This blog is where I write down what I'm learning, what broke, and what I eventually figured out.
